การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) ศึกษาสภาพการแสวงหาสารสนเทศเพื่อการทำโครงงานของนักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ วิทยาเขตสุราษฎร์ธานี (2) เปรียบเทียบการแสวงหาสารสนเทศเพื่อการทำโครงงานของนักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ วิทยาเขตสุราษฎร์ธานี จำแนกตามเพศและคณะที่ศึกษา (3) ศึกษาปัญหาในการแสวงหาสารสนเทศเพื่อการทำโครงงานของนักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ วิทยาเขตสุราษฎร์ธานี (4) เปรียบเทียบปัญหาในการแสวงหาสารสนเทศ เพื่อการทำโครงงานของนักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ วิทยาเขตสุราษฎร์ธานี จำแนกตามเพศและคณะที่ศึกษา ประชากรที่ใช้ในการวิจัย จำนวน 688 คน เป็นนักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรีชั้นปี ที่ 4 คณะวิทยาศาสตร์ และเทคโนโลยีอุตสาหกรรม และคณะศิลปศาสตร์และวิทยาการจัดการ มหาวิทยาลัยสงขลานครินทร์ วิทยาเขต สุราษฎร์ธานี ที่ลงทะเบียนเรียนรายวิชาเกี่ยวกับโครงงานในภาคการศึกษาที่ 2 ปี การศึกษา 2559 เก็บข้อมูลได้จำนวน 601 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยเป็นแบบสอบถาม วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลโดยใช้ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการทดสอบค่าที โดยใช้ตัวแบบการแสวงหาสารสนเทศของเอลลิสเป็นแนวทางการศึกษา ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ( 1) นักศึกษามีการแสวงหาสารสนเทศเพื่อการทำโครงงานโดยรวมอยูในระดับมากยกเว้น 1 ด้าน อยู่ในระดับปานกลาง คือ ด้านการสำรวจเลือกดูสารสนเทศ (2) นักศึกษาเพศชายและนักศึกษาเพศหญิง มีการแสวงหาสารสนเทศเพื่อการทำโครงงานโดยรวมไม่แตกต่างกัน ยกเว้น 1 ข้อ แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 คือ การเริ่มต้นแสวงหาสารสนเทศโดยนักศึกษาหญิงมีการเริ่มต้นแสวงหาสารสนเทศเร็วกว่า นักศึกษาชาย สำหรับนักศึกษาที่คณะต่างกันมีการแสวงหาสารสนเทศเพื่อการทำโครงงานโดยรวมไม่แตกต่างกันยกเว้น 2 ข้อ แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 คือ นักศึกษาคณะวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี อุตสาหกรรมมีการสำรวจเลือกดูสารสนเทศมากกว่านักศึกษาคณะศิลปศาสตร์และวิทยาการจัดการ และนักศึกษาคณะศิลปศาสตร์และวิทยาการจัดการมีการจบการแสวงหาสารสนเทศมากกว่านักศึกษาคณะวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี อุตสาหกรรม (3) ปัญหาที่นักศึกษาประสบในระดับมาก คือ สารสนเทศประเภทหนังสือในห้องสมุดมีน้อย อินเทอร์เน็ตช้า/เครือข่ายขัดข้อง และขาดทักษะด้านภาษาอังกฤษ (4) การเปรียบเทียบปัญหาในการแสวงหา สารสนเทศเพื่อการทำโครงงานของนักศึกษา พบว่า นักศึกษาชายและนักศึกษาหญิงมีปัญหาในการแสวงหาสารสนเทศเพื่อการทำโครงงานโดยรวมไม่แตกต่างกัน ยกเว้น 3 ข้อ แตกต่างกันน้อยอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 คือ การสำรวจเลือกดู การตรวจสอบ และการจบการแสวงหาโดยนักศึกษาหญิงมีปัญหามากกว่านักศึกษาชาย สำหรับ นักศึกษาที่คณะต่างกัน มีปัญหาในการแสวงหาสารสนเทศโดยรวมไม่แตกต่างกัน ยกเว้น 3 ข้อ แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 คือ การสำรวจเลือกดูการดึงสารสนเทศออกมา และการจบการแสวงหา โดยนักศึกษาคณะวิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยีอุตสาหกรรมมีปัญหามากกว่านักศึกษาคณะศิลปศาสตร์และวิทยาการจัดการ
The purpose of this study was (1) to study the status of information seeking in conducting research projects; (2) to compare information seeking classified by gender and faculty; (3) to study problems of information seeking in conducting research projects; and (4) to compare problems classified by gender and faculty by undergraduate students of Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus. The population was 688 fourth year students, Faculties of Science and Industrial Technology and of Liberal Arts and Management Sciences at Prince of Songkla University, Surat Thani Campus, who enrolled in a subject related to research projects during the second semester of the academic year of 2016; the return rate was 601 students. The research tool was a questionnaire, while the data analysis made use of percentage, mean, standard deviation and t-test, along with the Ellis Information Seeking Model. The findings were as follows. (1) Students seeked information when conducting research projects at a high level overall, except in the aspect of browsing which was at a moderate level. (2) Male and female students were similar overall in information seeking, except in the aspect of starting on information seeking, where there was a significant difference at .05, as female students generally started seeking information faster than male students. Students in different faculties were similar overall in the seeking practices, except regarding two aspects with a significant difference at .05. Regarding browsing, Science and Industrial Technology Faculty students were at a higher level than those of the Liberal Arts and Management Sciences Faculties. Also, regarding the aspect of ending the information seeking, students of Liberal Arts and Management Sciences were at a higher level than those of Science and Industrial Technology. (3) The main problems that students encountered were the small number of books available in the university library, slow internet speed/ trouble with the network, and lack of English language skills. (4) Comparing problems in information seeking when conducting research projects, male and female students were similar overall, except with regard to three aspects with significant difference at .05. With browsing, examining and ending seeking, female students had more problems than male students. Students in different faculties resembled each other in information seeking, except for three aspects with a significant difference at .05: for browsing, extracting information and ending seeking, students of the Science and Industrial Technology Faculty had more problems than those of the Liberal Arts and Management Sciences Faculty.
