Abstract
การศึกษาครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) ศึกษาผลตอบแทนตลาดรายวันของตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทย (2) วิเคราะห์การเคลื่อนไหวของผลตอบแทนตลาดรายวันของตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทย (3) ค้นหาวันในสัปดาห์ที่ให้ผลตอบแทนเกินปกติในตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทย การศึกษาครั้งนี้ศึกษาจากประชากรคือ ดัชนีตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทย โดย ศึกษาข้อมูลทุติยภูมิคือดัชนีตลาดหลักทรัพย์รายวัน ตั้งแต่วันที่ 1 มกราคม 2555 ถึง 31 มีนาคม 2557 การศึกษาดำเนินตามลำดับคือ (1) คำนวณผลตอบแทนตลาดรายวันเฉลี่ยสำหรับวันจันทร์ถึงวันศุกร์เพื่อศึกษาผลตอบแทนตลาดรายวัน (2) ใช้กราฟเส้นเพื่อวิเคราะห์การเคลื่อนไหวของ ผลตอบแทน (3) ใช้สมการถดถอยเพื่อค้นหาวันในสัปดาห์ที่ให้ผลตอบแทนสูงสุด ผลการศึกษาพบว่า (1) ในภาพรวมผลตอบแทนตลาดรายวันในปี 2555 มีค่าเป็นบวก อยู่ระหว่างช่วง 0.03 ถึง 0.32% ในขณะที่ปี 2556 เฉพาะผลตอบแทนในวันอังคาร และวันศุกร์ เท่านั้นที่มีค่าเป็นบวกประมาณ 0.01% วันอื่นๆ ที่เหลือแสดงผลตอบแทนเป็นลบ สำหรับปี 2557 ใกล้เคียงกับปี 2555 และปี 2556 คือ วันจันทร์ วันอังคาร และวันศุกร์ มีผลตอบแทนเป็นบวกอยู่ ระหว่าง 0.16 ถึง 0.26% ในขณะที่วันพุธ และวันพฤหัสบดี มีผลตอบแทนเป็นลบ (2) การ เคลื่อนไหวของผลตอบแทนตลาดรายวันตั้งแต่วันจันทร์ถึงวันศุกร์ค่อนข้างผันผวน โดยในปี 2555 เคลื่อนไหวเพิ่มขึ้นหรือลดลงอยู่ในช่วงระหว่าง-1 ถึง 1%ในขณะที่ ปี2556 เคลื่อนไหวอยู่ในช่วง ระหว่าง -4 ถึง 4% สำหรับปี2557 ใกล้เคียงกับปี2555คือเคลื่อนไหวอยู่ในช่วงระหว่าง-1.0%ถึง 1.3% (3) วันในสัปดาห์ที่ให้ผลตอบแทนเกินปกติหรือสูงสุด เมื่อเปรียบเทียบกับวันอื่นในสัปดาห์คือวันอังคาร
The objectives of this study were (1) to study the daily market returns of Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) (2) to analyze the movement of daily market returns and (3) to investigate the day-of-the-week effect in the SET This study focused on population, Stock Exchange of Thailand Index (SET Index), and employed the secondary data, daily SET Index from 1st January 2012 to 31st March 2014, for doing the research. The study was performed as follows: (1) calculating the average daily market returns from Monday to Friday (2) using the line graph for analyzing the variation in daily market returns (3) utilizing the regression to investigate the day-of-the-week effect in the SET. The results indicated that (1) overall the daily market returns in 2012 were positive in the range of 0.03-0.32% whereas the returns in 2013 showed a positive only on Tuesday and Friday, around 0.01%. Moreover, the returns of the rest days were negative. Similar to the year 2012 and 2013, in 2014 the returns on Monday, Tuesday and Friday were positive in the range of 0.16 – 0.26% while Wednesday and Thursday reported the negative returns (2) The movement of daily market returns from Monday to Friday was relatively fluctuating. It varied in the range of -1 – 1%, -4 – 4% and -1.0 – 1.3% in 2012, 2013 and 2014, respectively. (3) Interestingly, the phenomenon of the day-of-the-week effect appeared in the stock Exchange of Thailand: Furthermore, Tuesday can generate the highest return, compared to other days in a week.
