การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อ (1) ศึกษาระดับความภาคภูมิใจในตนเองของผู้สูงอายุที่อาศัยอยู่
ในจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี (2) ศึกษาความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างการรับรู้ความสำเร็จในอาชีพ และการได้รับการ
ยอมรับนับถือ กับความภาคภูมิใจในตนเองของผู้สูงอายุ (3) ศึกษาอำนาจการทำนายของการรับรู้
ความสำเร็จในอาชีพ และการได้รับการยอมรับนับถือ เพื่อการทำนายความภาคภูมิใจในตนเองของ
ผู้สูงอายุ และ (4) เปรียบเทียบความภาคภูมิใจในตนเองของผู้สูงอายุ จำแนกตามปัจจัยส่วนบุคคล
กลุ่มตัวอย่างคือผู้สูงอายุจำนวน 385 คน ที่อาศัยอยู่ในจังหวัดอุบลราชธานี ได้จากการสุ่ม
ตัวอย่างแบบหลายขั้นตอน เครื่องมือที่ใช้เป็นแบบสอบถามการรับรู้ความสำเร็จในอาชีพ การได้รับการ
ยอมรับนับถือ และความภาคภูมิใจในตนเอง ได้รับการตรวจสอบความตรงตามเนื้อหาจากผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ มี
ค่าความความเทียงเท่ากับ .94, .81 และ .80 สถิติทีใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วน

ผลการวิจัยปรากฏว่า (1) ความภาคภูมิใจในตนเองของผู้สูงอายุที่อาศัยอยู่ในจังหวัด
อุบลราชธานี อยู่ในระดับสูง (2) การรับรู้ความสำเร็จในอาชีพ และการได้รับการยอมรับนับถือ มี
ความสัมพันธ์ทางบวกในระดับปานกลาง กับความภาคภูมิใจในตนเองของผู้สูงอายุ (r = .60 และ r = .67)
อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 (3) การรับรู้ความสำเร็จในอาชีพ และการได้รับการยอมรับนับถือ
สามารถร่วมกันทำนายความภาคภูมิใจในตนเองของผู้สูงอายุได้ร้อยละ 52.8 โดยเขียนสมการได้ดังนี้
ZSelf esteem = .488Respect + .334Career และ (4) ผู้สูงอายุที่มีอายุ ระดับการศึกษา และอาชีพ แตกต่างกัน มีความภาคภูมิใจในตนเอง แตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 ส่วนผู้สูงอายุที่มีเพศ สถานภาพการสมรส และลักษณะการอยู่อาศัยแตกต่างกัน มีความภาคภูมิใจในตนเองไม่แตกต่างกัน
The purposes of this research were (1) to study the level of self-esteem of elderly people in Ubon Ratchathani province; (2) to study the relationships of career success, respectability, and self-esteem of the elderly people; (3) to investigate the combined predicting power of using the factors of career success and respectability for prediction of self-esteem of the elderly people; and (4) to compare the levels of self-esteem of the elderly people as classified by demographic data. The research sample consisted of 385 elderly people residing in Ubon Ratchathani province, obtained by multi-stage sampling technique. The employed research instrument was a questionnaire on career success, respectfulness, and selfesteem of elderly people, which was verified on its content validity by experts and had reliability coefficients of .94, .81 and .80, respectively. Statistics employed for data analysis were the percentage, mean, standard deviation, Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient, multiple regression analysis, and t-test. Research findings were as follows: (1) self-esteem of elderly people residing in Ubon Ratchathani province was at the high level; (2) career success and respectability correlated positively at the moderate level with self-esteem of the elderly people (r = .60 and r = .67, respectively), which were significant at the .01 level; (3) career success and respectability could be combined to predict self-esteem of the elderly people by 52.8 per cent; the regression equation in the form of standard score was as follows: ZSelf esteem = .488Respect + .334Career; and (4) the elderly people with different ages, educational levels, and careers differed significantly in their levels of self-esteem at the .05 level; while those with different genders, statuses, and types of residence did not significantly differ in their levels of self-esteem.
