พิธีกรรมและความเชื่อแซนโฎนตาของชาวบ้านละลม จังหวัดสุรินทร์

Abstract

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา 1) ประวัติความเป็นมา ความเชื่อ และพิธีกรรมแซนโฎนตาของชาวบ้านละลม จังหวัดสุรินทร์ 2) แนวทางในการอนุรักษ์พิธีกรรมแซนโฎนตา ของจังหวัดสุรินทร์ วิธีการวิจัยเป็นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ โดยการสัมภาษณ์แบบเจาะลึก การสังเกตแบบมีส่วนร่วม และการสํารวจชุมชน ผู้ให้ข้อมูลสําคัญที่เป็นกลุ่มเป้าหมาย ได้แก่ ผู้สูงอายุตั้งแต่อายุ 50 ปี ขึ้นไป ผู้นําในการประกอบพิธีกรรม ผู้เข้าร่วมพิธีกรรม ผู้นําชุมชน ไวยาวัจกร และพระสงฆ์รวม ทั้งสิ้น 30 ราย การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเป็นการวิเคราะห์เชิงพรรณนา ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) แซนโฎนตา เป็นประเพณีที่รับอิทธิพลความเชื่อจากประเพณี “ปุพพเปตพลี” ในทางพระพุทธศาสนา เกี่ยวกับการอุทิศ ส่วนกุศลไปให้ผู้ตาย ต่อมาได้ผสมผสานกับวัฒนธรรมชุมชนเกี่ยวกับการบูชาผีบรรพบุรุษของชาวไทยเชื้อสายเขมรบ้านละลม จังหวัดสุรินทร์ ซึ่งเชื่อว่าวิญญาณบรรพบุรุษจะกลับมารับส่วนบุญส่วนกุศลที่ลูกหลานอุทิศให้ ความเชื่อ และพิธีกรรมในอดีตและปัจจุบันพบว่ามีความแตกต่างกัน โดยการปรับเปลี่ยนไปจากอดีต เพื่อให้ เหมาะสมกับยุคสมัยและฐานะทางเศรษฐกิจ แต่ยังคงรักษาสาระสําคัญของพิธีกรรมแซนโฎนตาไว้ 2) แนวทางในการอนุรักษ์พิธีกรรมแซนโฎนตาของชาวไทยเชื้อสายเขมร จังหวัดสุรินทร์ ได้แก่ การพาบุตรหลานเข้าร่วมพิธีกรรมแซนโฎนตา การส่งเสริมให้มีการจัดทําหลักสูตรท้องถิ่นในสถานศึกษา และการจัดตั้งศูนย์ข้อมูลท้องถิ่นเกี่ยวกับพิธีกรรมแซนโฎนตาประจําชุมชน

The objectives of this study were to study 1) the history, background, rituals and beliefs surrounding the “Sandonta” tradition of villagers in Ban Lalom, Surin Province; and 2) approaches for preserving the Sandonta tradition. This was a qualitative research based on in-depth interviews, participatory observation and a community survey. The target groups of key informants who were interviewed included elders aged 50 and older, ritual leaders, ritual participants, community leaders, Buddhist monks and the monks’ lay assistants, for a total of 30 people. Data were analyzed through descriptive analysis. The results showed that 1) “Sandonta” is a tradition that was influenced by the beliefs of the “Buppabetpli” Buddhist ritual for making merit to transfer the merit to those who have already died. The ritual was then integrated with aspects of ancestor worship that were a part of the community culture of people of Khmer descent living in Ban Lalom, Surin Province. They believed that the spirits of deceased ancestors would return to Earth to receive the merit bestowed by their living descendents. A comparison of the ritual practices in the past and the present showed that there are some differences, because the practices have been modified to be more appropriate for the times and for present people’s economic status; however, the main important core of the Sandonta ritual has been conserved. 2) Approaches for preserving the Sandonta ritual of the people of Khmer descent in Surin Province are to have villagers’ children and grandchildren participate in the ritual, to promote the compilation of information about the tradition in the local culture curriculum for educational institutions, and to set up a local information center about the tradition.
