การวิจัยเรื่องนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา (1) สภาพพื้นฐานทางสังคมและเศรษฐกิจของเกษตรกร
ตำบลสาลี อำเภอบางปลาม้า จังหวัดสุพรรณบุรี (2) การผลิตข้าวของเกษตรกร (3) ความต้องการการส่งเสริมการเกษตรของเกษตรกรผู้ผลิตข้าวผลการวิจัยพบว่า (1) เป็นเพศชาย ร้อยละ 55.6 อายุเฉลี่ย 47.9 ปี ส่วนใหญ่จบการศึกษาระดับประถมศึกษา มีสมาชิกในครัวเรือน เฉลี่ย 4.19 คน มีประสบการณ์ในการผลิตข้าว เฉลี่ย 26.41 ปี เกษตรกรทั้งหมดสมาชิกสถาบันเกษตรกร เป็นกลุ่มลูกค้าธนาคารเพื่อการเกษตรและสหกรณ์การเกษตร และได้รับความรู้เกี่ยวกับการผลิตข้าวจากนักวิชาการส่งเสริมการเกษตร แรงงานในครัวเรือนส่วนใหญ่ มีจานวน 2 คน พื้นที่ผลิตข้าวเฉลี่ย 47. 25 ไร่ และเป็นพื้นของตนเองบางส่วนและเป็นพื้นที่เช่าบางส่วน แหล่งเงินทุนของเกษตรกรทั้งหมดมาจากสถาบันการเงิน (2) เกษตรกรผลิตข้าวเพื่อจำหน่ายโดยการเข้าร่วมโครงการจำนาข้าวกับรัฐบาล พื้นที่ที่ผลิตข้าวเป็นดินเหนียว ใช้น้ำชลประทาน พันธุ์ข้าวที่ใช้ส่วนใหญ่ พันธุ์ กข 47 ส่วนใหญ่เกษตรกรมีการไถเตรียมดิน
2 ครั้ง ใส่ปุ๋ย 3 ครั้ง ใช้ปุ๋ยสูตร 46 – 0 -0 และ 16 – 20 – 0 และมีการป้องกันกำจัดโรค แมลง วัชพืช และสัตว์ศัตรู
7 ครั้ง ในการผลิตเกษตรกรทั้งหมดพบโรคไหม้ เพลี้ยกระโดดสีน้ำตาล ข้าววัชพืช นก และใช้สารเคมีใน
การป้องกันและกำจัด ซึ่งในการกำจัดวัชพืช และสัตว์ศัตรูบางชนิดมีการใช้แรงงานคนและวิธีกลมาผสมผสาน เกษตรกรเก็บเกี่ยวผลผลิตโดยการจ้างรถเกี่ยวนวดและจ้างรถในการขนส่ง ซึ่งเมื่อเก็บเกี่ยวผลผลิตแล้วนาออกจำหน่ายโดยไม่มีการลดความชื้น ต้นทุนการผลิตเฉลี่ย (บาท/ไร่) ได้แก่ ค่าเมล็ดพันธุ์ 636 บาท ค่าเตรียมดิน 363.72 บาท ค่าปุ๋ย 573.91 บาท ค่าสารเคมี 1,574.44 บาท ค่าจ้างแรงงาน 364.10 บาท ค่าน้ำมันเชื้อเพลิง 32.35 บาท ค่าเก็บเกี่ยวและขนส่ง 588.80 บาท ค่าเช่าที่ดิน 1,582.85 บาท ส่วนผลผลิตข้าว ต้นทุนเฉลี่ยไร่ละ 5,741.38 บาท ผลผลิต เฉลี่ยไร่ละ 1,030.71 กิโลกรัม รายได้จากการจำหน่ายข้าวของเกษตรกร เฉลี่ยไร่ละ 12,776.22 บาท
(3) เกษตรกรมีความต้องการการส่งเสริมความรู้เกี่ยวกับวัตถุอันตรายทางการเกษตร การดูแลรักษา และมาตรฐานสินค้าข้าวในระดับมากที่สุด สำหรับช่องทางและวิธีการในการส่งเสริมความรู้เกี่ยวกับการผลิตข้าว ส่วนใหญ่ต้องการความรู้จากบุคคลจากหน่วยงานราชการ ผ่านสื่อโทรทัศน์ วิทยุ และคอมพิวเตอร์ โดยวิธีการบรรยายและศึกษาดูงาน
The purposes of this research were to study (1) fundamental socio-economic circumstance of farmers in Sali Sub-District, Bang Pla Ma District, Suphan Buri Province, (2) rice production by farmers, and (3) agricultural extension needs by rice production farmers. The population in this study composed of rice production farmers in Sali Sub- District, Bang Pla Ma District, Suphan Buri Province who registered as rice production farmers in the second production during the year 2011-2012. A number of 266 households were selected by simple random sampling. Instrument for data collection was an interview form. Obtained data were analyzed by computer programs. Statistics employed included frequency, average scores, percentage, mean, maximum value, minimum value and standard deviation. Research findings: (1) 55.6% were male with the average age at 47.9 years. Most of them were educated at primary school level. The average number of their household member was 4.19 persons. Their average experience in rice production was 26.41 years. All of them joined membership of agricultural institution and were customers of the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives. Knowledge about rice production was provided to them by agricultural extensionist. Their household labor was mostly 2 persons. Their average area for rice production was 47.25 rai which some part owned by them and some part rented by them. All sources of their capital would be from financing institutions. (2) Their rice production objective was for sale by participating in the government’s Rice Pledging Scheme. Rice production area was in clay soil using water from irrigation. RD 47 rice variety was the most grown by them. In rice production, tillage for soil preparation was done for 2 times, application of fertilizer formula 46-0-0 and 16-20-0 for 3 times, pest control as well as eradiation of weed flora, disease and insects for 7 times. All of them found blast disease, brown plant hopper, weedy rice and birds in their rice production. To prevent and eradicate the above-mentioned, they used chemical substance as pesticide. They also used integrated manpower and mechanical method to eradicate some kinds of weed flora and animals. For harvest, they hired harvesting /threshing machine and truck for delivery. After harvest, they sold their products without reducing grain moisture contents. Their average production costs (baht/rai) were as follows; 636 baht for rice seeds, 363.72 baht for soil preparation, 573.91 baht for fertilizer, 1,574.44 baht for chemical substance, 364.10 baht for labor, 32.35 baht for fuel oil, 588.80 baht for harvest and delivery and 1,582.85 baht for land rental fee.As for their rice product, the average cost per rai was 5,741.38 baht, the average product per rai was 1,030.71 kg and their average income per rai was 12,776.22 baht. (3) Their agricultural extension needs at the highest level were new knowledge about agricultural hazardous material, safety storage and standard of rice products. In promoting new knowledge about rice production, the channel and method that they preferred would be from official organizations via media such as television, radio and computer by giving lectures and study visits
