Abstract
การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์ เพื่อ (1) ประเมินผลการดำเนินงานของธุรกิจสื่อสารโทรคมนาคม ในตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทย ตั้งแต่ พ.ศ. 2537-2545 (2) ระบุอัตราส่วนทางการเงินที่สำคัญที่ส่งผลต่อความสำเร็จในการดำเนินงานของธุรกิจสื่อสารโทรคมนาคม และ (3) วิเคราะห์ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างอัตราส่วนทางการเงินกับผลการดำเนินงานของธุรกิจสื่อสารโทรคมนาคม กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ บริษัทที่ดำเนินธุรกิจสื่อสารโทรคมนาคมที่จดทะเบียนในตลาดหลักทรัพย์แห่งประเทศไทย ทั้งก่อนและตั้งแต่่ พ.ศ. 2536 ที่สามรถดำเเนินธุรกิจมาจนถึงปัจจุบันนี้และมีข้อมูลทางการเงินและการบัญชีครบถ้วน จำนวน 8 บริษัท ข้อมูลที่ใช้ในการศึกษาคือข้อมูลทุติยภูมิ ได้แก่ งบดุล งบ
กำไรขาดทุน หมายเหตุประกอบงบการเงิน และเอกสารต่าง ๆ ที่เกี่ยวข้อง เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ อัตราส่วนทางการเงิน สมการถดถอยแบบตัวแปรเดียว และสมการถดถอยแบบเชิงซ้อน ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ผลการดำเนินงานของบริษัทในธุรกิจสื่อสารโทรคมนาคม ช่วงก่อนเกิดวิกฤตเศรษฐกจิ พ.ศ. 2537-2540 ส่วนใหญ่จะมีสภาพคล่อง มีประสิทธิภาพในการบริหารทรัพย์สินและหนี้สิน รวมทั้งมีความสามารถในการหารายได้จากการดำเนินงานและจากการลงทุนในสินทรัพย์ สูงกว่าค่าเฉลี่ยของธุรกิจ แต่ช่วงหลังเกิดวิกฤตเศรษฐกิจ พ.ศ. 2541-2545 ทุกบริษัทต้องประสบปัญหาทางเศรษฐกิจ เกิดการขาดสภาพคล่อง และมีความเสี่ยงทางการเงินสูง มีเพียง 2 บริษัท คือ บริษัท ยูไนเต็ดคอมมูนิเคชั่น อินดัสตรี จำกัด (มหาชน) และบริษัทอินเตอร์แนชั่นเนิลเอนจีเนียริง จำกัด (มหาชน) ที่สามารถปรับตัวได้อย่างรวดเร็วในการแก้ไขปัญหาสภาพคล่องอัตราส่วนทางการเงินที่มีผลต่อความสำเร็จ ในการดำเนินงาน และมีความสัมพันธ์กับผลการดำเนินงานของบริษัทคือ อัตราการหมุนเวียนของสินทรัพย์รวมอัตราส่วนหนี้สิน อัตราส่วนหนี้สินระยะยาวต่อส่วนของผู้ถือหุ้น อัตราส่วนเงินทุนหมุนเวียน และอัตราการหมนุเวียนของสินทรัพย์ถาวรตามลำดับ
The objectives of in this research were to (1) evaluate the performances of Telecommunication sector in the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) between 1994 and 2002, (2) identify the major financial ratios affecting the operation success of Telecommunication and (3) analyse the relationship between financial ratios and Telecommunication performances. The sample in the research is eight listed companies in Telecommunication sector in the Stock Exchange of Thailand both before and since 1993. These companies still operate and have completed financial and accounting information. The secondary data are also employed in this study. They consist of balance sheet, profit & loss, notes to financial statement and related documents. The analytical methodology comprises of financial ratios, univariate regression and multivariate regression. The outcome of the analysis found that in the pre-crisis period of 1994-1997 the operational performance of the telecommunication companies showed sufficient liquidity and efficiency in managing their assets and liabilities, including the ability to generate income from operations and invest better than the industry average but in the post crisis period of 1998-2002. Telecommunication companies encountered economic problems resulting from lack of liquidity and high financial risk. There are only two companies; United Telecommunication Industry Public Company Limited and The International Engineering Public Company Limited who were able to prepare themselves to solve liquidity problems. Financial ratios related to their operational performance are used to analyse success of the companies’ operational performance. These are total assets turnover ratio, debt ratio, long-term debt to equity ratio, current ratio, and fixed assets turnover ratio respectively.
