การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษา (1) ปัจจัยอันได้แก่ ปัจจัยส่วนบุคคล ปัจจัยด้านสังคมปัจจัยต้านเศรษฐกิจ (2) การมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองของคณะกรรมการหมู่บ้านในอำเภอแม่แตง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ (3) ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างปัจจัยอันได้แก่ ปัจจัยส่วนบุคคล ปัจจัยด้านสังคม ปัจจัยด้านเศรษฐกิจ
กับการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองคณะกรรมการหมู่บ้าน อำเภอแม่แตง จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ (4) ปัญหาและอุปสรรคของการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองของคณะกรรมการหมู่บ้าน และ (5) เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางแก้ไขปัญหาการมีส่วนร่วมทางการเมืองของคณะกรรมการหมู่บ้าน ผลการวิจัย พบว่า 1) กลุ่มตัวอย่าง ส่วนใหญ่เป็นเพศชาย กลุ่มที่มีจำนวนมากที่สุค อาอุ 45 -54 ปี การศึกษาระดับประถมศึกษาหรือตํ่ากว่า โดยส่วนใหญ่เป็นสมาชิกกองทุนหมู่บ้านและไม่เป็นหัวหน้ากลุ่มหรือประธานกลุ่มต่าง ๆ กลุ่มที่มีจำนวนมากที่สุดประกอบอาชีพรับข้างทั่วไป และมีรายได้

The objectives of this research were study to: (1) personal factors, social factors, and economic factors affecting political participation of village committee members in Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province; (2) political participation of village committee members in Mae Taeng District, Chiang Mai Province; (3) the relationship between personal factors, social factors, and economic factors and political participation of village committee members; (4) the problems of and obstacles to political participation of village committee members; and (5) possible solutions to those problems. The results showed that: (1) the majority of the sample were males. The greatest number was in the 45 - 54 age range and was educated to the level of primary school or lower. Most were members of village fund but were not group leaders. Most were private sector employees and earned 3,000 - 5,000 baht a month; (2) the samples had the most frequent level of political participation in terms of voting. They had a frequent level of participation in terms encouraging others to vote and keeping abreast of political news. They had a medium level of participation in terms of discussing political matters and joining political activities. They least frequently participated in terms of contacting politicians or political officials; (3) the factors of educational level, being head of a group, income, and origin of village committee member status were related to political participation to a statistically significant degree at the level of 0.05; (4) The most significant problem with political participation was contacting politicians or political officials; and (5) The recommended ways of solving the problem are to encourage citizens to vote and to contact politicians or political officials.
